We are seeking a highly motivated bioinformatician to join our dynamic bioinformatics team at Humanitas Research Hospital.

The objectives of the Bioinformatics Unit encompass several key areas: (i) pioneering the development of novel computational methodologies and bioinformatics tools to facilitate the seamless integration of biological and clinical data, (ii) providing robust bioinformatics support through proficient data analysis and interpretation, utilizing computational and statistical techniques, (iii) to maintain the scientific computing facilities at Humanitas, and (iv) delivering comprehensive training programs focused on bioinformatics tools and methodologies.

Within our team, we expect the candidate to effectively manage diverse research projects, offering assistance to researchers through data analysis and scientific discussion. The pivotal requirements for this position include proficiency in either R or Python programming, coupled with experience in transcriptome, epigenome, spatial gene expression and genomic data analysis, particularly at the single-cell resolution.

Qualifications and desired skills and competences

  • We invite applications from highly motivated in one of the following disciplines: Bioinformatics or Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering or Computer Science or STEM related disciplines.
  • Understanding of –omics data structures and experience in -omics data analysis
  • Good knowledge of statistical methods applied to medical data
  • Good scripting and programming skills (R, Python, bash)
  • Working knowledge of containers technologies (Docker and/or Singularity)
  • Experience in cloud (GCP, AWS) and/or distributed computing (HPC) is appreciate
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Italian

  • Strong self-motivation, commitment and proactive approach
