RINA is currently recruiting for a Seismic Hazard Engineer to join its office in Milan, Rome or Genoa Italy, within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division.
MissionThe Seismic Engineer with a specialization in offshore and nearshore environments, focuses in assessing offshore areas, conducting seismic input studies, and performing comprehensive analysis to ensure the safety and integrity of offshore structures and operations.
Key AccountabilitiesOffshore Area Assessment:
- Conduct thorough assessments of offshore areas to identify potential seismic hazards and risks.
- Analyze geological and geophysical data to characterize subsurface conditions and seismicity patterns.
- Assess seismic vulnerability by evaluating environmental factors, such as water depth, seabed topography, and proximity to fault lines.
Seismic Input Studies:
- Develop and implement methodologies for acquiring seismic input data relevant to offshore projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and deploy seismic monitoring systems offshore.
- Collect, process, and analyze seismic data to determine ground motion parameters, spectral content, and other critical inputs for engineering analysis.
Seismic Studies and Analysis:
- Perform advanced seismic analysis using industry-standard software tools and numerical methods.
- Assess the dynamic response of offshore structures and systems to seismic loading, including wave-induced effects.
- Conduct probabilistic seismic hazard assessments to quantify risks and uncertainties associated with offshore operations.
- Generate detailed reports and technical documentation summarizing findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
Regulatory Compliance and Best Practices:
- Stay abreast of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing seismic design and assessment in offshore environments.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices and guidelines for seismic risk mitigation in offshore engineering projects.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams to facilitate adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including geologists, geophysicists, structural engineers, and project managers, to integrate seismic considerations into project planning and execution.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, regulatory authorities, and other external partners to convey technical concepts, present analysis results, and address inquiries.
