Overview of the role Due to recent project wins and with further exciting opportunities in the pipeline, we are looking for a Project Technical Lead (PTL) to join our Energy Transition business in the Genoa office, supporting thermal detailed design, owner's engineer and technical advisory assignments. The PTL will provide technical leadership across complex energy transition projects from early development through to delivery, commissioning and handover. The role is responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary engineering inputs, assuring technical quality, managing interfaces and risks, and ensuring solutions are practical, compliant and aligned with client objectives. The PTL will lead detailed design activities and supports clients through Owner's Engineer and technical advisory commissions. Typical responsibilities include design review, technical due diligence, feasibility and FEED support, tender and procurement input, contract review, construction monitoring, commissioning support and technical risk management. The role requires strong technical judgement, leadership and client engagement skills, with the ability to guide teams, challenge technical proposals, and deliver clear, risk-based advice. The PTL will play a key part in helping clients develop and deliver high-quality Energy Transition projects safely, efficiently and successfully.
Lead technical delivery across Energy Transition projects covering detailed design, Owner's Engineer and technical advisory services
Act as the main technical point of contact, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing technical interfaces
Support delivery across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and FEED through procurement, detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover
Represent clients' technical interests on Owner's Engineer commissions, including design review, tender support, technical bid evaluation, contract review, construction monitoring and commissioning support
Deliver technical advisory services including feasibility studies, technical due diligence, risk review and technical reporting
Identify and manage technical risks, design issues and project interfaces to support successful project outcomes
Work closely with project managers and clients to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget and to the required quality
Degree qualified in engineering or a related technical discipline such as electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, process, power or energy engineering
Proven experience in a technical leadership role within the energy sector, such as Project Technical Lead, Design Lead, Owner's Engineer (OE) or Technical Advisor (TA)
Strong experience delivering multidisciplinary thermal generation or wider low-carbon energy systems
Demonstrable experience in detailed design delivery and design review, including coordination of technical interfaces across multiple disciplines
Experience supporting or leading OE and/or TA commissions, including activities such as technical due diligence, feasibility studies, tender support, bid evaluation, contract review, construction monitoring and commissioning support
Strong understanding of technical risk management, design assurance, quality processes and compliance with relevant standards and specifications
Ability to lead technical teams, make sound engineering decisions and communicate clearly with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders
