on-site only, mainly Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and occasional travel to Linate Airport

Overview
This role is ideal for experienced L1/L2 Desktop Support Engineers looking to apply their troubleshooting, hardware support, and customer-facing skills in a specialist airport technology environment.
You'll provide technical support for automated passenger processing systems (eGates), ensuring critical airport technology remains operational. While the equipment differs from traditional desktop environments, many core desktop support skills transfer directly to this role.
What You'll Be Doin g
Carry out regular routine and preventative maintenance on the range of passenger processing equipment within the airport
Respond to all customer incidents and service requests passed across by the Global Service Desk and resolve any user faults within agreed SLAs
Troubleshoot and help resolve connectivity issues
Maintain a high level of communication at all times with both colleagues and customers
Identify any spares required and advise the Global Service Desk accordingly to ensure that the customer incident can be updated accordingly
Carry out regular "floor-walking" and proactive line-of-sight checks to identify and resolve any issues before they are escalated.
Requirements
What will you bring to ESP?
Good knowledge and experience with Microsoft software
Understanding of network protocols, PC, server hardware and configurations
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt to any new change or situation
Ability to use a multimeter to check voltages and circuits
Valid driving license
Italian - advanced proficiency and English - conversational
Working Environment
Small on-site engineering team (4 engineers).
Autonomous role with direct interaction with customer users.
Full training provided by the existing engineering team.
Additional Requirements
Eligibility to obtain a full airport airside pass.
Ability to provide a 5-year employment history for airport security clearance.
Access card/pass clearance required to work independently within the airport environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Desktop Support Engineer seeking a move into specialist infrastructure and operational technology support while continuing to utilise core troubleshooting, hardware, networking, customer support, and incident management skills developed within traditional IT support environments.
