About Us
Generative Bionics is a deep-tech company building humanoid robot platforms to deploy human-centered Physical AI. We design intelligent, capable machines that work alongside people in real-world environments — developed in Genova, Italy. Role We are building a new generation of wearable sensing systems capable of capturing, processing, and transmitting high-quality biomechanical and physiological data in real-world environments. We are looking for an Software Embedded Engineer to develop the firmware and low-level software that powers our devices and enables reliable communication between sensors, wireless networks, and higher-level software platforms. You will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of embedded software running on resource-constrained systems, working across sensing, data acquisition, wireless communication, synchronization, and device management. The role is highly practical and close to both hardware and product development. You will write production-quality firmware, test and validate it on physical devices, troubleshoot issues across the hardware/software boundary, and collaborate closely with electronics, mechanical, and software engineers to transform innovative concepts into robust and scalable products. Design, implement, and maintain embedded software in C/C++ for microcontroller-based systems and wearable devices; Develop interfaces and acquisition pipelines for IMUs and other sensors, ensuring reliable sampling, synchronization, calibration, and data quality; Design and maintain real-time software architectures using RTOS frameworks, managing tasks, synchronization mechanisms, interrupts, and inter-task communication; Develop and debug peripheral drivers and hardware abstraction layers for custom electronics platforms; Implement and optimize communication protocols such as BLE, Wi‐Fi, and other low‐latency wireless technologies; Develop mechanisms for timestamping, clock synchronization, buffering, and reliable data exchange across distributed devices; Perform firmware debugging and system validation using hardware tools such as JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers; Work closely with electronics, hardware, and software teams to define interfaces, solve integration issues, and improve overall system reliability; Contribute to code reviews, testing strategies, continuous integration processes, and software architecture decisions; Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; ~1+ years of professional experience in embedded software development; ~ Strong experience with C and C++ for embedded systems; ~ Solid experience with microcontrollers (MCUs) and resource‐constrained embedded systems; ~ RTOS: Hands‐on experience with real‐time operating systems, including task scheduling, synchronization, interrupts, and inter‐task communication; ~ Experience developing and debugging device drivers and hardware abstraction layers; ~ Good knowledge of I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN, and similar embedded communication interfaces; ~ Experience integrating sensors, particularly IMUs and other sensing technologies commonly used in wearable devices; ~ Understanding of sensor sampling, synchronization, calibration, timestamping, and basic signal processing concepts; ~ Familiarity with BLE, Wi‐Fi, and low‐latency wireless communication protocols; ~ Experience with JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and embedded debugging workflows; ~ Good understanding of modular embedded software design and software/hardware interfaces; ~ Experience with Git, code reviews, testing methodologies, and CI workflows; ~ Ability to read electronic schematics and hardware datasheets and collaborate effectively with hardware teams; ~ Strong troubleshooting skills across firmware, electronics, and system integration domains; ~ Good written and verbal communication skills in English; ~ Experience developing firmware for wearable devices, motion tracking systems, or body‐worn sensor platforms; ~ Experience working with IMUs, magnetometers, pressure sensors, EMG, or physiological sensing technologies; ~ Knowledge of sensor fusion, orientation estimation, and motion tracking algorithms; ~ Experience with low‐power embedded systems, battery‐operated devices, and power optimization techniques; ~ Familiarity with ARM Cortex‐M architectures and related development ecosystems; ~ Experience with Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or comparable RTOS frameworks; ~ Knowledge of Python for testing, device automation, analysis, or engineering tooling; ~ Experience with bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, and OTA update solutions; ~ The opportunity to develop cutting‐edge wearable technologies at the intersection of embedded systems, sensing, biomechanics, and AI; An innovative, fast‐paced, and highly collaborative environment; Direct involvement in the design and development of
