Semiconductor Process EngineerLocation: Pisa, ItalyWho are we looking for?We are looking for a highly motivated Semiconductor Process Engineer to develop and optimise FEOL and BEOL process modules in an advanced silicon photonics cleanroom environment. You will work at the interface of device design, process R&D, and process integration, developing and optimising new process modules, ready for pilot and volume manufacturing.This role suits an engineer who is hands-on in the fab, data-driven, and comfortable working across disciplines including design, integration, equipment engineering, and metrology.What will you be doing?• Develop, qualify, and optimise FEOL and BEOL process steps including lithography,deposition, etching, and planarization• Own specific process modules and drive continuous improvement in yield, performance,and defectivity• Design and execute robust Design of Experiments (Do E) to understand process sensitivities• Perform in-depth process characterization using electrical, physical, and optical metrology• Analyse process data, identify root causes of variation, and implement corrective actions• Work closely with device, integration, and design teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) compliance• Support technology transfer from R&D to pilot or volume manufacturing• Interface with equipment vendors for tool qualification, process tuning, and troubleshooting• Maintain detailed process documentation, specifications, and control plans• Operate safely and effectively in a cleanroom environment, adhering to all EHS and qualitystandardsWhat we need to see?• Degree (BSc, MSc, or Ph D) in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, ChemicalEngineering, or a related discipline• Hands-on experience with semiconductor FEOL and/or BEOL process technologies• Practical knowledge of:o Lithography (E-beam, optical, DUV, EUV exposure principles, resist processing)o Thin-ilm deposition (CVD, PVD, ALD)o Etching (plasma dry etch, wet etch fundamentals)o Metrology (CD-SEM, ellipsometry, proilometry, defect inspection, electrical test, Ramanand AFM)• Proven experience designing and analysing Do E, with strong statistical understanding• Familiarity with Df M, process windows, critical dimension control, and variability reduction• Ability to analyse complex datasets and draw clear, data-backed conclusions• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills• Experience working, communicating, and collaborating in a cross-functional team• An ability to adapt to a fast-moving start-up environment• Eligibility to work in Italy
