The Sponsored Products (SP) team is looking for a Principal Applied Scientist to help millions of shoppers intuitively navigate our vast inventory by harnessing the power of ML and GenAI models. As a core product offering within our advertising portfolio, SP helps merchants, retail vendors, and brand owners succeed via native advertising, which grows incremental sales of their products sold through Amazon. The SP team’s primary goals are to help shoppers discover new products they love, be the most efficient way for advertisers to meet their business objectives, and build a sustainable business that continuously innovates on behalf of customers. Your influence scientific and engineering methods across all of Sponsored Product and Sponsored Brand.
You are a role model and help grow other scientists in the organization.
You have deep and broad expertise in Artificial Intelligence and GenAI. You draw from scientific and industrial maturity to make strategic judgement calls.
You have 10+ years of research experience after a PhD degree.
The Sponsored Products and Brands team at Amazon Ads is re‑imagining the advertising landscape through generative AI technologies, revolutionizing how millions of customers discover products and engage with brands across Amazon.We are at the forefront of re‑inventing advertising experiences, bridging human creativity with artificial intelligence to transform every aspect of the advertising lifecycle from ad creation and optimization to performance analysis and customer insights. We are a passionate group of innovators dedicated to developing responsible and intelligent AI technologies that balance the needs of advertisers, enhance the shopping experience, and strengthen the marketplace. Within Sponsored Product and Brands, the Demand Utilization Venture team researches and deploys Generative AI and Reinforcement Learning solutions to improve our understanding of shoppers’ needs, our understanding of advertisers’ intent, and how we find the right sponsored products for the right shopper in the right search context.
10+ years of relevant, broad research experience after PhD degree or equivalent.
~ Deep expertise and knowledge of Generative AI methods involved in pre/post training, LLM optimizations for performance and throughput.
~ Proficiency in programming for algorithm and code reviews.
~ Strong core competency in mathematics and statistics.
~ Track record of successful projects in algorithm design and product development.
~ Experience with mentorship and/or management of senior scientists and engineers.
~ Effective verbal and written communication skills with non‑technical and technical audiences.
~ Experience working with real‑world data sets and building scalable models from big data.
~ Demonstrated track record of project delivery for large, cross‑functional projects with evolving requirements.
~ Ability to take a project from requirements gathering and design to actual product launch.
