For a project in the defense sector, TXT E-TECH is looking for a Middle-Level Embedded DSP Engineer to join a technical team working on the porting, integration, and validation of a communication infrastructure between Texas Instruments DSPs and FPGA devices. The selected candidate will contribute to the evolution of the hardware communication layer by analyzing the existing implementation, porting it to a new DSP platform, and supporting integration and debugging activities on embedded systems.Main Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
- Support the porting of the MHAL (Modem Hardware Abstraction Layer) message transport infrastructure used for communication between DSP and FPGA;
- Analyze the existing implementation running on Texas Instruments TMS320C6457 DSP;
- Analyze the current MHAL layer based on RapidIO / SRIO;
- Port the software to the Texas Instruments TMS320C6657 DSP platform;
- Configure the DSP as a PCI Express Endpoint and implement communication with the FPGA over PCIe;
- Develop interrupt-driven (IRQ-based) message reception mechanisms;
- Adapt low-level drivers and message transport mechanisms to the new architecture;
- Support functional verification of the DSP-FPGA communication channel;
- Perform embedded debugging activities using Code Composer Studio;
- Support FPGA integration activities and troubleshoot issues identified during system integration;
- Produce and maintain the technical documentation required for software release.
Required Technical Skills
The ideal candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Embedded software development in C on DSPs or embedded processors;
- Experience with Texas Instruments DSPs, preferably from the C6000 / Keystone family;
- Knowledge of Code Composer Studio, preferably CCS v5.x;
- Good understanding of interrupt handling mechanisms in embedded systems;
- Experience with low-level drivers, peripheral registers, and memory-mapped I/O;
- Knowledge of high-speed communication protocols;
- Knowledge of PCI Express, particularly from an embedded software or driver development perspective;
- Ability to analyze legacy code and port it to new hardware platforms;
- Experience working with DSP-FPGA systems;
- Experience with embedded debugging using JTAG, emulators, and Texas Instruments development tools.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Hands-on experience with Texas Instruments TMS320C6657;
- Experience with Texas Instruments TMS320C6457;
- Knowledge of SRIO / RapidIO;
- Experience porting applications from SRIO to PCI Express;
- Understanding of PCI Express Root Complex / Endpoint architecture;
- Experience with interrupt-driven communication between FPGA and processors;
- Knowledge of real-time embedded systems.
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a STEM discipline.
The ideal candidate is proactive, enjoys working in a team, has strong problem-solving skills, and is comfortable working on complex embedded systems.
