We are hiring engineering managers who are passionate about operational systems, open source technologies and cutting-edge hardware to lead engineering teams to enable and optimize Ubuntu for the latest x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x and POWER systems.
We partner with the world's leading silicon vendors to optimise Ubuntu on their latest platforms. They should be completely at home reviewing a patch or a software design spec. You will be expected to drive healthy engineering practices, documentation, quality and performance optimisations as well as lead your team to deliver high-quality design and code.
The ability to develop engineering talent, to represent your team and product from a technical perspective, and to drive collaboration with other teams and customers are all critical to success in this role.

Oversee commercial engagements and support timely delivery on agreed project milestones
Integrate and maintain platform-oriented software stacks
Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path
Fluency in C, C++, and Python
Experience with Linux and operational systems software (e.g. kernel or user space)
Experience with Debian/Ubuntu or other distro packaging
Experience leading software engineering teams
Professional written and spoken English
Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
Computer architecture knowledge of x86, ARM, RISC-V or s390x
Experience with Linux virtualization, networking or graphics stacks
