Reporting directly to the CIO, the Business Intelligence (BI) Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous evolution of BI systems and data integration platforms. This includes the development of advanced reporting solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Power BI, the orchestration of data flows via SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Service Bus, and the integration of data from various enterprise systems.
As a BI Manager, you'll be responsible for:
Strategic Planning & Governance Define BI vision and roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
Establish data governance policies, including data quality, security, and compliance.
Lead the design of the Microsoft Fabric architecture, including OneLake setup and data lakehouse strategy.
Integration with existing systems (ERP, CRM, PLM, etc.).
Power BI, Data Factory, Synapse and Data Activator, etc.
Data Integration & Modeling
Oversee data ingestion pipelines from various sources (SQL, APIs, cloud apps).
Guide the creation of semantic models and data marts using Fabric's Lakehouse and Warehouse capabilities.
Ensure reusability and scalability of data models across departments.
Manage BI developers, data engineers, and analysts.
Promote self‐service BI through training and governance of Power BI usage.
Foster a data‐driven culture across the organization.
Monitor system performance, query optimization, and cost management.
Implement Fabric capacity planning and workspace management.
Ensure data refresh reliability and dashboard responsiveness.
Define role‐based access controls and workspace permissions.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to manage data protection.
Ensure data accuracy and consistency across reports.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Coordinate with Microsoft and system integrators for support and best practices.
Manage budget and licensing related to Fabric and Power BI.
Microsoft Fabric Expertise
OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI, Data Activator.
Data Architecture & Modeling:
Proficiency in dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and data lakehouse design.
Strong grasp of data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and data lineage.
Power BI Mastery:
Experience with Power BI governance, deployment pipelines, and performance tuning.
Cloud & Security Knowledge:
Familiarity with Azure services, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), and role‐based access control (RBAC).
