Overview Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Engineer (Test), Amazon Leo Job ID: 3017376 | Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. This role focuses on design and testing of avionics for on-orbit use, applying expertise in electromagnetic environmental effects to ensure compliance of avionics and payload/antenna subsystems for the low-earth-orbit satellite program. Responsibilities Work with hardware design teams as a subject matter expert in electromagnetic environmental effects testing throughout the development process, including: test requirements, test readiness reviews, EMC test and support, and test report documentation. Develop and maintain EMC test software and generate test reports. Support EMC equipment calibration and maintenance. Complete EMC test procedures and test reports, assist teams with test configurations, and perform testing to MIL-STD-461 and/or DO-160 requirements. Collaborate with teams to define and support LRU cable harnesses, loads, and test racks for EMC testing. Define and coordinate EMI/EMC test scheduling for all satellite electronic subsystems and vehicle/spacecraft level. Troubleshoot and conduct development investigation testing in conjunction with Avionics teams across Amazon Leo. Qualifications Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent degree, or experience. - 3+ years of experience in a hardware design or testing role. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience in spaceflight avionics testing as an electromagnetic environmental effects engineer. Experience with analysis tools to define requirements for emissions and susceptibility of avionics components. Knowledge and understanding of EMC industry standards and specifications for aerospace (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1541A, DO-160, etc.). Experience modeling electromagnetic environments using computational software (CST, HFSS, etc.). Experience with EMC lab test equipment, setup, and configurations. Experience with Qualification Procedures, Reports, Test Readiness Reviews, and failure reporting/investigation. Other Information The team delivers in multiple areas such as bus development, payload development, embedded software, signal integrity, power, PCB development, and EMC testing. The team includes hardware-in-the-loop development for satellite systems to build out an extensive set of test systems for validated satellite systems. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
