Offer Description The project investigates access to justice using administrative data and advanced causal inference methods, with a particular focus on Brazil. It examines how economic circumstances and litigation costs affect court use, the types of claims filed, and the likelihood of success; the role of personal relationships in judicial decisions; and the effects of winning a case on expectations of rights protection and individual behaviour. It also explores the mechanisms underlying these effects and differences across population groups. The researcher will conduct empirical analyses, manage large datasets, develop causal identification strategies, and estimate advanced econometric models. They will contribute to research reports and academic articles, collaborate with the principal investigator and institutional partners, disseminate findings, participate in seminars and workshops, and develop new research directions in applied economics.
