Overview In this role, you advance human health by developing novel bioinformatics methods for complex genomic data within Illumina's world-class team. You'll contribute to the DRAGEN platform and Illumina Connected Analytics, translating scientific insights into robust production software. You will collaborate with software, FPGA, and clinical genomics groups to deliver end-to-end workflows and impactful solutions. This position offers hands-on innovation at scale with meaningful, real-world health impact.

Responsabilità
Design and prototype computational and statistical algorithms to extract signals from sequencing data
Develop and optimize high-performance production software using C/C++ and related tech
Analyze and interpret complex genomic datasets to support product development
Collaborate with software, FPGA, QA, QC, and clinical genomics teams for end-to-end workflows
Support DRAGEN platform advancements across germline, somatic, DNA, RNA, SV, CNV, and targeted sequencing
Engage with external scientific and customer teams to define future capabilities
Communicate technical approaches and results clearly to diverse audiences
Prepare technical documents, publications, and marketing materials
Evaluate new technologies to improve scalability, accuracy, and customer experience
Demonstrate accountability and contribute to a collaborative culture
Requisiti fondamentali
Strong foundation in computer science, statistics, algorithms, and genomics
Experience developing novel but practical computational methods for biological challenges
Expertise in NGS technologies and secondary analysis (mapping, alignment, variant calling)
Strong software development skills in C/C++ or similar high-performance languages
Ability to translate solutions into production-ready software
Experience working in cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams
Ability to communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Bioinformatics or related field
Industry or research experience in genomic data analysis, including rare disease, cancer genomics, or population genetics
