ROLE SUMMARY: THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MILAN
Invites expressions of interest from secondary teachers of English for a role which will commence in September 2025. Applicants who have already expressed an interest in working for ISM may be fast-tracked through interview processes, as and when specific teaching vacancies arise. As an IB continuum school (PYP-MYP-DP), we especially welcome expressions of interest from teachers with previous IB experience. However, we also welcome applications from specialist Secondary teachers who are committed to high standards, interested in using innovative approaches to learning, and enthusiastic about promoting international understanding.
Founded in 1958, ISM caters for over 900 students from more than 60 nationalities. Our campus, which opened in September 2013, incorporates a theatre, swimming pool and full-size gymnasium as well as specialist classrooms, labs, libraries, arts and music areas. All of our sections are fully authorised for International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes – Primary Years Programme (PYP) from Kindergarten to Grade 6; Middle Years Programme (MYP) from Grades 7 to 11; Diploma Programme (DP) in Grades 12 and 13. ISM is the most established IB world school in Italy and has an excellent record of results in the Diploma averaging 34/35 points. In addition, we opened our Boarding school in 2018 which has added immensely to the sense of family at ISM.
THE ROLE OF SECONDARY TEACHER Our Secondary Teachers are skilled in teaching a range of abilities within their subject(s). They are normally able to teach across the age range of IBMYP (Grades 7 to 11), and IBDP (Grades 12 & 13), although they may specialise in certain year-groups. Secondary teachers also work as form tutors to support our students’ well-being, and are also expected to contribute to other areas of school life outside the classroom.
ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS FOR ISM APPLICANTS: Possession of a university degree in a related subject and an appropriate teaching qualification;
Recent experience successfully teaching within the 11-19 age range;
Enthusiasm and passion for their subject, with the ability to motivate students of all abilities.
