About the Role As an Optical Technical Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support and performing maintenance activities on telecommunications network equipment, specifically related to NMS (Network Management System) technologies, WDM products and OTN products. You will join our dynamic SM Optics team, a company that has been driving innovation in optical-based communications for over 20 years. With an international sales organization and a strong focus on R&D, SM Optics delivers end‐to‐end packet optical solutions—from converged backhauling for fixed and mobile operators to solutions for the industrial and public sectors. Responsibilities Provide remote technical support. Work on‐site at the customer's premises. Operate in a highly dynamic environment such as the TAC (Technical Assistance Center), with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. Understand and troubleshoot network issues using tools such as traceroute, ping, netstat, etc. Perform basic testing on the network management system. Key Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or related fields, or a technical diploma with a focus on telecommunications or IT. Prior knowledge and experience with NOKIA and HUAWEI products: NMS, OTN and WDM. Familiarity with VMware/Citrix/TeamViewer/TeraTerm/VPN and similar IT tools. Solid understanding of Layer 2 technologies and protocols such as VLAN, VLAN Tagging (IEEE 802.1q), LACP, VLAN trunking, RSTP (IEEE 802.1D and other 802.1 implementations). Knowledge of WDM technology. Knowledge of OTN technology. Why Join Us?
