We are looking for an experienced Network Administrator to join a team of 4-5 engineers supporting the network infrastructure of an international organisation on a long-term project. The role is based in Rome, Italy, so candidates must live in or near Rome, or be willing to relocate. You will keep a complex, multi-tenant network running smoothly and securely, from day-to-day operations to onboarding new services, always with a security-first approach. Configure and support Cisco infrastructure (Nexus and Catalyst switches, routers) Administer firewalls, including Cisco Firepower and F5 BIG-IP AFM Administer Cisco Meraki solutions (switching, wireless and security) Set up and maintain site-to-site IPsec VPN tunnels Monitor WAN usage and performance, and troubleshoot network issues Provide first and second-level support, coordinating with vendors when needed Keep technical documentation and configuration templates up to date Take part in the on-call/standby rota Contribute to network security projects: review vulnerability and risk reports, and implement controls Work with IT, business and cybersecurity teams to turn requirements into secure technical solutions Automate recurring tasks with scripting and automation tools 5+ years of experience as a Network Administrator or Network Engineer ~ Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching and routing ~ Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki ~ Proven experience with F5 load balancers ~ Strong experience with Cisco Firepower and F5 AFM firewalls ~ Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF and BGP ~ Good understanding of cloud networking, ideally AWS (VPC, routing, security groups) ~ Knowledge of LAN, data centre and WAN technologies (SD-WAN, MPLS, DNS) ~ Experience working in ITIL-based environments ~ Excellent English, both written and spoken ~ Strong troubleshooting skills, team spirit and a service-oriented attitude 5+ years of experience as a Network Administrator or Network Engineer ~ Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching and routing ~ Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki ~ Proven experience with F5 load balancers ~ Strong experience with Cisco Firepower and F5 AFM firewalls ~ Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF and BGP ~ Good understanding of cloud networking, ideally AWS (VPC, routing, security groups) ~ Knowledge of LAN, data centre and WAN technologies (SD-WAN, MPLS, DNS) ~ Experience working in ITIL-based environments ~ Excellent English, both written and spoken ~ Strong troubleshooting skills, team spirit and a service-oriented attitude 250€/day in freelance contract Diverse projects in a challenging environment, allowing you to make a real impact on the business Continuous, high-standard training to unlock your full potential A performance-driven culture with attractive performance bonuses Comprehensive health insurance (GEREP) and meal vouchers (Swile card) At Ekkiden, we are committed to delivering a positive experience for every candidate.
