You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Regional Chief Engineer (CE) to join our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team. This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports AWS. Specifically, this team works to ensure the safe and secure operation of the data center's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to provide 99.999% availability for our customers.
This involves planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response. The Regional CE serves as an expert technical resource interacting with on-site Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT), CEs, Facility Managers (FM), and third party vendors.
The Regional CE also manages medium-to-large projects and programs from conception to completion. These projects and programs involve large amounts of independent work, as well as, collaboration with external support groups including engineering, automation, processing, and finance in both local and global settings. The goals of such projects are for the Regional CE to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center, to include HVSS
Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
Provide training and guidance to EOTs, CEs, and FMs
Work at depths, such as under raised floors
Associates or Bachelors degree in applicable engineering field or mechanical or electrical trades
8+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment
3+ years of program or project management using metrics to define requirements and track program/project health
Operating engineering licenses such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent
Stationary Engineering or Building Engineering License
Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License
Strong verbal and written communication skills
