A day in the life: As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on innovative, challenging phased‐array antenna systems in the industry. You will engage with experienced teams to conceive and design phased arrays aimed at delighting customers with affordable, reliable, high‐bandwidth connectivity. You will work closely with Amazon LEO sub‐teams and third‐party suppliers to drive product definition, design, optimization, implementation, and test. Your designs will impact downstream partners such as operations, management, and reliability. You will make daily high‐value judgments on tactical versus strategic decisions to achieve system performance targets and maintain schedules despite unexpected challenges. You will own or contribute to the following: Own PCBA development from concept through production Design and optimize different blocks of electronics subsystems Design high‐speed digital and/or RF circuitry in collaboration with various teams Lead and review schematic capture and PCB layout Lead PCB vendor engagement for DFM review Optimize PCB stack‐up for performance and cost Generate test plans/procedures based on high‐level requirement definition Complete board bring‐up and perform test campaigns for different modules and subsystems Design automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory test Support the transition of the designs to production About the hiring group The payload antenna team is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, validation, qualification, and new product introduction to manufacturing for all satellite phased arrays. These antenna systems will meet performance requirements defined by the RF/modem team as well as environmental and reliability requirements defined by the mechanical team. The team collaborates closely with silicon, power, mechanical, thermal, modem, RF/Coms system, and SW teams. Export Control Requirement Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Basic Qualifications Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures BS degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering, or equivalent experience 7 years of industrial experience, especially board‐level analog/digital design 1 years of experience in high‐speed digital design, multi‐gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity 3 years of experience using schematic2 years of experience using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi‐meters Experience with Mentor Graphics or Cadence layout tools Preferred Qualifications Experience with the project management of technical projects Masters of Science or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering Familiarity with analog electronic fundamentals (transistor circuits, op‐amps, filters, etc) Experience in design, implementation, bring‐up and debugging of proof‐of‐concept HW and prototypes Familiarity with power supply design Previous work experience in a programming language Proficiency in developing programs for instrument control Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market.
