Overview

As a Senior Instrumentation & Control Software Engineer, you will design, implement, test, and commission PLC-based process control solutions for HVAC and thermofluid applications in engine and vehicle testing. You'll collaborate with partners to develop PLC software, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and communication protocols, while ensuring modular, standards-based, scalable systems. Your work supports sustainable mobility and energy transition initiatives and involves hands-on commissioning and customer training. You will shape technical specifications and drive continuous improvement.

Responsabilità

  • Design the core architecture of process control systems (PLCs, HMI, SCADA, drives, networks)
  • Develop PLC software, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and third-party communication protocols
  • Perform commissioning and start-up activities at customer sites
  • Prepare final system documentation and user instructions
  • Deliver internal and end-user training on control systems
  • Continuously improve systems with a focus on standardization, modularity, flexibility
  • Define technical specifications for outsourced developments when needed

Requisiti fondamentali

  • 5+ years of PLC software design in industrial and/or automotive environments
  • Technical diploma or degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, process control, thermodynamics, and mechanics
  • Expertise in PLC-based control systems, especially Siemens (TIA Portal, S7)
  • Experience with Safety Integrated in Siemens TIA Portal
  • Proven experience with HMI/SCADA (WinCC Unified, Emerson Movicon, Ignition)
  • Knowledge of industrial Ethernet protocols and fieldbuses (Profinet, Profibus, EtherCAT, OPC UA, CAN, Modbus, IO-Link, MQTT); ability to develop drivers
  • Programming skills in JavaScript, HTML, Python, C#, C++
  • Structured, modular, and standardized PLC software development
  • UX/UI-focused HMI/SCADA design and web-based technologies
  • Knowledge of applicable industrial standards, regulations and safety directives
  • Willingness to travel within Italy and occasionally abroad
