Solar Field Technician

Our client is a leading international renewable energy company delivering innovative asset care solutions for the global solar industry since 2006. With an impressive track record in EPC, O&M, and Asset Management, they have evolved to offer a sophisticated suite of operations, maintenance, and asset management services, along with award-winning software and retrofit technologies. Their expertise spans the entire lifecycle of photovoltaic systems, from design and construction to long-term operations and maintenance.
We are seeking experienced Solar Field Technicians to join our client’s growing team in Sicily, Italy. This role involves hands-on technical work at solar farm installations, ensuring optimal performance, maintenance, and troubleshooting of photovoltaic systems.
Installation & Commissioning
Install, commission, and test solar PV systems at utility-scale solar farms
Connect solar panels, inverters, and electrical components according to technical specifications
Conduct pre-commissioning inspections and quality checks
Maintenance & Operations
Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on solar installations
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults in PV systems
Monitor system performance and identify areas for optimization
Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols
Ensure compliance with Italian electrical standards and regulations
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and site visits
Technical Support
Provide technical support to the operations team
Collaborate with engineers and project managers on system improvements
Support commissioning activities for new installations
Electrical qualification or equivalent technical certification
Knowledge of solar inverters, transformers, and electrical distribution systems
Understanding of high voltage and low voltage electrical systems
Familiarity with solar farm operations and maintenance procedures
Language Skills
Fluent Italian (essential for daily operations and client communication)
English proficiency (desirable for technical documentation)
Must be based in Sicily (or willing to relocate)
Valid Italian or EU driving license (essential for site visits)
Willingness to travel between solar farm sites within the region
Flexibility for occasional overnight stays when working at remote locations
Excellent attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
Proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement
Experience with SCADA systems and remote monitoring platforms
~ 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or Italian equivalent (CEI standards)
~ Experience working on utility-scale solar farms (MW-scale projects)
~ Health & Safety certifications relevant to electrical work
~ Experience with thermal imaging and diagnostic equipment
