We are hiring a System Development Engineer to develop and integrate hardware and software for satellite production manufacturing and test applications. This highly collaborative position interfaces with Amazon Leo production, engineering, and IT infrastructure teams. Key Job Responsibilities Manufacturing automation development: develop automated manufacturing applications on the Kuiper SCADA platform. Ownership and collaboration: learn and address business needs through interaction with partner teams, generate requirements, document customer feedback, implement and iterate, and deliver functioning applications to production. Provide support for startup activities and participate in an on-call rotation for production downtime escalations. Security and compliance: produce system architecture and design documents for end-user, front line support, and security review purposes, ensuring system integrations comply with internal IT and Security standards, with code that is well-documented and version controlled. A Day in the Life This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position. You will work with leaders across Amazon Leo to define and develop automation systems to meet program needs. In addition, you will be responsible for project management, cost estimates, and scheduling. You'll maintain high standards and continuously look for ways to improve product performance, quality, and cost. About the Team The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team designs and commissions automation and tooling for satellite testing and production. This in‐house team of engineers works directly with satellite designers, production teams, and manufacturing engineers to solve unique problems in high‐volume satellite production. Basic Qualifications Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure. Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust. Experience with Linux/Unix. Preferred Qualifications Experience with CI/CD pipeline build processes. Experience with TCP/IP networking fundamentals and application of IP protocols such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, and SNMP. Experience with iterative, agile development methodologies (including scrum). Knowledge of distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases. Knowledge of hardware platforms. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,200/year in the lowest market up to $185,000/year in the highest market.
