In this role you will drive electromagnetics research at the ABB Research Center, working at the intersection of power electronics and electromagnetics to translate cutting-edge theory into practical ABB products. You will develop EMC/EMI models, perform measurements, and contribute to patents and high-impact publications. You’ll collaborate with ABB centers, business units and universities to transfer research into real-world applications. Your work will support sustainable energy systems and push the boundaries of technology.

Verantwortungsbereiche

  • Pioneer EMC concepts for high-power converters and EMI compliance
  • Develop EMC models to predict and optimize electromagnetic design
  • Perform EMC measurements of conducted and radiated emissions and HF component characterization
  • Publish high-impact papers and contribute to patents to demonstrate technology leadership
  • Collaborate with ABB research centers, business units, and universities to translate research into applications

Zentrale Anforderungen

  • PhD in electrical engineering, physics or related discipline with specialization in power electronics or electromagnetics
  • Proven research excellence with high-impact publications and patents
  • Deep expertise in EMC/EMI theory, electromagnetic modelling and field simulations
  • Knowledge of power electronic converter topologies, filters, magnetics, and switching devices
  • Experience with simulation tools CST, COMSOL, ANSYS, SPICE (LTSpice, SIMetrix), Simulink
  • Hands-on HF-electromagnetic measurement skills (conducted/radiated emissions) and ability to design/test EMC/EMI-compliant converters
  • Strong communication skills in English
