The heart of a spacecraft lies in its propulsion system, and that's why we, at The Exploration Company, are dedicated to developing our cutting-edge Propulsion Systems ensuring the highest level of efficiency and reliability in our space endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

As an Future Project Propulsion Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing functional performance models of propulsive systems using simulation frameworks such as Ecosim and codes in Python
  • Analysing, documenting, and presenting complex analysis results to estimate key parameters of a propulsion system (e.g., mass budgets, pressure losses, flow rates, thruster performance)
  • Contributing to the evaluation and preliminary optimization of various spacecraft concepts in terms of performance, operation, cost and reliability/safety
  • Guiding the technology roadmaps of the company by identifying the technological locks that need to be overcome in relation to these concepts.
  • Exploiting functional performance models to lead architecture trade studies, sensitivity analyses, and risk assessments
  • Collaborating closely with system engineers and other advanced concepts engineers to ensure compliance of the propulsion architecture with the spacecraft requirements and mission characteristics
What we would love to see from you

You will perform your duties principally at the Company's premises in Torino and may be required to travel from time to time to our company’s premises in Bordeaux in the course of your duties.

In the role of Fluid Control Equipment Engineer ideally, you will have the following:

  • Master’s and/or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and propulsion systems
  • Proven experience working on functional propulsion modeling and analysis
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools for simulation and modeling (e.g., Ecosim, Amesim)
  • Proficiency in the Python programming language
  • Experience with storable and or cryogenic liquid bipropellant propulsion systems is a plus
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Italian, German or French are an asset
