Offer Description

Renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is a pathophysiological phenomenon that occurs when blood flow to the kidneys is temporarily reduced (ischemia) and then restored (reperfusion), causing further tissue damage. This event is clinically relevant during complex surgical procedures such as kidney transplantation, vascular surgery, and shock. In experimental research, the swine model is widely used to study renal I/R injury due to its similar anatomy and physiology to humans, which allows for high translatability of results. However, optimization of anesthetic techniques and postoperative analgesic management in this model is essential to minimize the impact of variables that may affect the reliability of results and animal welfare.
