IOTA Group has been supporting its clients for more than 40 years by providing specialized technical expertise for complex international projects, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The Absheron Conventional Gas & Condensates Project is an offshore development located in the Caspian Sea, approximately 100 km southeast of Baku, Azerbaijan, in around 500 m water depth. The project includes subsea facilities, SURF systems and an offshore gas pipeline connected to the new onshore Central Processing Facility (CPF).
The Lead Umbilical Engineer will support the Absheron FFD Detailed Engineering and Extension FEED, with responsibility for Umbilical and Fiber Optic Cable (FOC) engineering, fabrication, testing, installation and commissioning.
Job Description
Lead Umbilical and FOC engineering activities within the SURF package. Act as the technical focal point for Umbilical and FOC matters. Review and approve Contractor/Vendor technical documentation, queries and deviations. Ensure compliance with project specifications, Company Rules, international codes and standards. Coordinate Umbilical and FOC interfaces with SURF, SPS, Telecom, Onshore and Installation teams. Supervise manufacturing and fabrication activities at Contractor/Vendor facilities. Monitor QA/QC, H3SE and technical compliance during fabrication and testing. Follow up FAT, SAT, PQT, qualification and other testing activities. Support Umbilical and FOC installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning. Identify and resolve technical issues, risks and interface challenges. Participate in technical reviews, workshops and project meetings. Provide technical reporting and support to the SURF Technical Manager. Support project close-out and capture lessons learned. Qualifications Minimum 15 years of Oil & Gas project experience. Strong specialist experience in subsea Umbilical engineering and installation. Proven experience in deepwater and shallow-water Umbilicals. Strong experience in FOC engineering and installation, including nearshore and landfall. Experience in Umbilical design, manufacturing, qualification, testing and offshore installation. Knowledge of applicable international codes, standards, regulations and Company Specifications/Rules. Strong knowledge of QA/QC, NDT and metallurgy. Experience with FAT, SAT, PQT and qualification activities. Strong Contractor, Vendor and multidisciplinary interface management skills. Experience working on large-scale, complex offshore/subsea projects. Strong H3SE awareness and commitment to safe working practices.
