Moncalieri TO, Provincia di Torino; Piemonte, Italia Italdesign Giugiaro Tempo pieno

Italdesign is looking for a chassis suspension Engineer to lead and perform advanced simulations and analyses of vehicle systems using multibody methodologies and CAD system. The role combines strong technical expertise in vehicle chassis subsystems, such as suspensions, steering, brakes, wheels, dampers, antirollbars, with ownership of simulation activities across projects, contributing to system concept definition, performance optimization, and integration at vehicle level. The candidate will support development programs, interface with OEMs and internal teams, and contribute to technical excellence and business growth chassis domains.

  • development and execution of multibody simulations for chassis and vehicle systems
  • definition and correlation of vehicle models (full vehicle and subsystems)
  • definition and development of suspension systems, including architectures, kinematics & compliance (K&C), and component behavior (bushings, dampers, anti-roll bars, steering system, tires)
  • support system-level design activities with a clear understanding of suspension functionality, trade-offs, and performance targets
  • support vehicle integration activities, ensuring consistency between simulation models, CAD layouts, and package constraints
  • perform analyses of chassis systems with a focus on the interaction between simulation results and real system behavior
  • delivery of results in compliance with quality, cost, and timing targets
  • manage simulation activities across all development phases (concept → SOP)
  • ensure correlation between simulation and test data
  • support co-engineering activities with OEMs and suppliers
  • contribute to data-driven decision making for vehicle performance optimization

Key requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive engineering with focus on chassis systems and multibody simulation
  • solid understanding of vehicle dynamics and system behavior, with proven knowledge of suspension systems (architectures, kinematics & compliance, component functionality such as bushings, dampers, anti-roll bars)
  • strong expertise in multibody modeling (e.g., suspension systems, steering systems, full vehicle dynamics) through CAE tools (e.g., MSC Adams or equivalent)
  • good experience in vehicle integration and cross-functional development environments (CAE, CAD tools e.g. CATIA, testing)
  • understanding of CAD and packaging constraints related to chassis/suspension systems
  • experience working with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers
  • structured and analytical mindset
  • strong problem-solving capabilities
  • effective communication skills (international environment)
  • results-oriented approach

  • planning and prioritization skills
  • ability to manage complex and multi-domain technical problems
  • experience with automotive development processes (V-cycle)
  • strong understanding of correlation and validation processes
  • ability to synthesize complex data into clear engineering conclusions
  • proactivity, flexibility, and resilience

Preferential requirements

  • knowledge of suspension system design and integration, including component-level understanding and their impact on vehicle behavior
  • quality standards, processes, dynamics according to customer (OEM) process and requirements
  • knowledge of control systems and vehicle functions (ESC, torque management)
  • legislative, homologation, rating constraints
  • knowledge of component validation methods and procedures (eg. testing specifications)
