What are we looking for? We are seeking a Staff Big Data Engineer who is passionate about big data, data engineering, and AI. We need someone who can contribute to the development and implementation of robust data solutions and enhance our data capabilities for cybersecurity research. As our ideal new colleague, you should have a strong background in (big) data engineering, building distributed systems over a cloud environment, and be comfortable working with large-scale datasets for research purposes (our cybersecurity platform ingests 5-10 Petabytes of data daily).
What will you do? As a Staff Data Engineer at Sentinel One, you will play a vital role in designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure required for effective research for developing cyber threat detections in our products (incl. new AI-powered detections or detections in cloud environments). These infrastructures will be used by data scientists and cybersecurity researchers to make sense of petabytes of data.
You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional production teams across the entire company, including data scientists, cybersecurity researchers, product managers, and more.
You will deliver innovative data solutions that will assist us in developing the best threat detection solution and protecting our customers.
What experience and knowledge should you bring? 4+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, and distributed systems
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (that we use), Java, Scala, or similar
Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS (our primary), GCP, or Azure
Experience with deploying big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Ice Berg, or Trino
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Grafana, or similar
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present and explain complex data and models to technical and non-technical stakeholders
BS or higher degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field. Additional or directly relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience in leading cross-functional projects between R&D and product teams
A huge plus would be: Experience in and passion for cybersecurity
Experience with MLOps and working with data scientists
