Director (Rome Gallery)

We are seeking an experienced Director to lead our Rome gallery and drive its commercial growth across the Italian and international art markets. The successful candidate will oversee the gallery’s strategic and commercial direction, working in close collaboration with our London team to align exhibitions, art fairs and client development. Applicants must demonstrate extensive experience in both the primary and secondary markets, established relationships with collectors, curators and institutions, and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets and building long-term partnerships within Italy, and globally. Key responsibilities: Lead the commercial growth of the Rome gallery and develop strategies to expand the collector base. Leverage existing networks to identify new opportunities, both within Italy and globally. Ensure an exceptional standard of client service and gallery presentation. Contribute to the gallery’s wider international strategy, working closely with the Founder and directors. Key requirements: Excellent professional English. Minimum of 10 years’ experience with a comparable international gallery. Consistently exceeds yearly sales targets. Strong working knowledge of the Italian art market. Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information. Hours: Full time Contract: Permanent Location: Richard Saltoun Gallery, Via Margutta, 48a-48b, 00187 Rome This is an on-site job, so the candidate must already live in Rome or be willing to relocate. Salary: €50,000 – €80,000 per annum + sales commissions. Only those who are eligible to work in Italy can be considered.
