The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for managing yard operations in coordination with the site's Dock, Inbound, and Outbound teams to ensure first in, first out (FIFO) processing and mitigate risks of impact on the customer experience. The ideal candidate has experience in transportation operations and excellent project management skills. They have the ability to lead and mentor people, analyze data, and make relevant recommendations in an often ambiguous environment. One of the key responsibilities of this role is to standardize and improve processes while analyzing and eliminating root causes of defects in current systems. This position requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence change.
The applicable collective agreement (CCNL) for this role is Logistica, Trasporto Merci e Spedizione. The position is classified at Level 1 or above, depending on the candidate's skills, competences and experience.
Key job responsibilities
Collaborate with Site leadership to improve the punctuality of inbound and outbound trucks, as well as safety and customer experience metrics
Streamline communication between the Site, the Network Operations Center, and carriers to optimize truck flow in the yard, ensuring on-time arrivals and departures
Responsible for reporting yard performance to local Site leadership, identifying root causes of structural issues, and driving resolution with multiple stakeholders
Support all site safety and compliance programs to ensure a safe working environment for associates in the yard
Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives and Lean tool implementation
Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs while measuring and identifying completed activities
Ability to develop standard procedures and share best practices with our global transportation operations teams
Ability to work some weekends and/or nights as needed (this team provides tactical support to Amazon's logistics network)

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Experience managing teams
Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues and leadership
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
Speak, write, and read fluently in Italian
Speak, write, and read fluently in English
Experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment
Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
Experience in a logistics/operations environment
Experience with SQL and Access
