COATING AND PAINTING ENGINEER Definition of Coating & Painting Engineer Coating & Painting Engineer is the person that follows coating, field joint coating and painting activities of various items (pipelines, platforms, ships and various structures) related to the oil and gas industry. Tasks performed by Coating & Painting Engineer Coating & Painting Engineer performs the following tasks : Research and development of coating, painting and field joint coating systems Feasibility study for suitability of the coating, painting and field joint coating systems for requested scope of work Review of the received documents and elaboration of input data related to coating, painting and field joint coating works Selection of suitable coating, painting and field joint coating materials and systems Preparation of technical qualifications / queries related to the coating, painting and field joint coating Detailed design of the coating, field joint coating and painting systems Preparation of the specifications and technical requisitions related to coating, painting and field joint coating materials and services Estimation of the field joint coating cycle time Estimation of the required man-hours related to the coating, painting and field joint coating engineering works in case of the project award Technical evaluation of the offers received from Vendors or Subcontractors related to the supply of coating, painting and field joint coating materials and services Review of the documentation prepared by painting, coating and field joint coating Subcontractors Performance of Technical Audits of the Vendor's coating, painting and field joint coating facilities Witnessing of the Pre-Qualification Tests related to coating, painting and field joint coating Supervision / inspection of the coating, field joint coating and painting works on the work site Solving of technical problems related to the coating, painting and field joint coating works Main emphasis of the Coating & Painting Engineer's work is on offshore pipelines (coating and field joint coating).
