Overview As Optical Payload System Engineer, you drive optical payload activities across the project lifecycle, from design to in-orbit operations, within OHB Italia's Earth Observation and exploration business. You work with cross-disciplinary teams to optimize electro-optical systems and ensure mission success. You will shape payload interfaces, requirements, and verification plans while staying at the forefront of optical technology. This role offers hands-on AM it with a focus on high-impact space missions.
Responsabilità
Lead development, qualification, and procurement of electro-optical payloads and optical cameras
Provide technical support to procurement of optical systems
Conduct trade studies and performance assessments to optimize optical systems
Define payload interfaces and requirements for Earth observation missions
Support CalVal planning and End-to-End mission performance budgets and analysis
Develop test plans and procedures for optical payload testing (lab and environmental)
Document design processes, test results, and system specifications for project reporting
Support satellite AIT and verification activities
Participate in in-orbit commissioning and CalVal
Stay current with advancements in optical technologies and contribute to continuous improvement
Requisiti fondamentali
Strong knowledge of electrooptical systems
Understanding of photonics, optics, opto-mechanics, imaging techniques, and sensor technologies
Experience with Earth-observation and optical missions
Knowledge of spacecraft design and interfaces
Excellent sense of responsibility

Master/PhD in Physics, Optics or Aerospace plus relevant proven industry experience
