Offer Description

The project aims to analyze the development of commercial law between the 11th and the 17th century, in the geographical area between Northern Italy and present-day Germany, through the tools of historical linguistics. A complete and systematic survey of the medieval and early modern legal sources will allow the study and evolution of legal terms in commercial letters, contracts and statutes, both published and unpublished. The analysis of the technical-legal lemmas used in commercial transactions will allow to verify the impact of the merchants' migrations on the development of law and on the social and economic history. The project foresees the realization of a terminological database of the "Glossary of Medieval Commercial Law Terms" and of a Web application to access the glossary and the interactive digital maps of the itineraries that connected Venice with Northern Europe and the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Selection Process

The selection takes place through:

  • a comparative evaluation of qualifications and an interview;
  • evaluation of the scientific-professional curriculum;
  • evaluation of scientific productivity.
