This role will work closely with important stakeholders, including the Chief of Staff, Office of the Executive Director Team, and the Director of Communications Division, to ensure cohesive messaging and effective communication efforts across multiple platforms. The position supervises a Content Producer to achieve organizational communication goals, including crisis communications and internal communications. .POSITION NUMBER: International Consultant IIORGANIZATIONALCONTEXT: The Office of the Executive Director (OED) and the Office of the Chief of Staff assist the WFP Executive Director in setting strategic direction, optimizing WFP's global profile and maximizing its operational effectiveness. OED supports the Leadership Team, the Senior Management Team and the offices that report directly to the Executive Director. The position is based in Rome and reports to the Chief of Staff.JOB PURPOSE:The Head of Communications, Office of the Executive Director (OED), is responsible for overseeing and managing communication strategies for the OED Office, and acts as an advisor to the Executive Director and Chief of Staff. This role will work closely with important stakeholders, including the Chief of Staff, Office of the Executive Director Team, and the Director of Communications Division, to ensure cohesive messaging and effective communication efforts across multiple platforms. The position supervises a Content Producer to achieve organizational communication goals, including crisis communications and internal communications. .ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Strategic Communication Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives. Collaborate with the Chief of Staff, OED team and Director of Communications, Division to ensure consistency and coherence in messaging.2. Team Management: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team members. Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and support their professional development. As Head of the OED Communications team, the incumbent will provide strategic insights to press releases, media interviews and prioritization and influencing social media strategies across the Executive Director's platforms.3. Internal Communications: Liaise with the Internal Communications team in the Communications Division in developing and executing internal communication strategies on behalf of the Executive Director. Ensure clear and consistent messaging to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational goals. Develop and implement communication channels and platforms for internal communications, such as newsletters, intranet, and town hall meetings.4. Crisis Communication: Develop crisis communication plans and strategies in collaboration with the Chief of Staff and Director of Communications. Lead the organization's response to crises under the direction of the Executive Director, providing guidance and support to ensure effective and timely communication. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including legal and executive teams, to manage crises and protect the organization's reputation.5. Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the Communications Division, to align communication efforts and maximize impact. Coordinate with other departments to gather relevant information for communication purposes.6. Brand Management: Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all ED communication channels, both internal and external. Monitor and maintain the organization's brand image and reputation as it pertains to ED's communications and initiatives.7.
