We're now looking for a colleague to join our team in Bologna, Italy as a Firmware Engineer.

Job Overview: You will be responsible for designing, developing, managing and maintaining the Software used inside the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) to control the UPS power electronic converters, generate diagnostic and handle the communication buses.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and support complex Software applications and the relative documentation;
  • Work in an international FW team;
  • Create functional, architecture and design specifications;
  • Test and validate the Software in accordance with the standard procedures;
  • Analyses the Software already implemented to understand all the functionalities;
  • Implement new control algorithms;
  • Software installation at Customer site for prototype units;
  • Customer support and visit to manage relevant issues.

In order to be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Education: Engineering degree, Informatic degree or equivalent study with experience in Embedded Software (DSP or Microcontroller);
  • Experience: 3 years;
  • Proficiency in Language C;
  • Experience with Embedded application with DSP or Microcontroller, knowledge of: CAN-controller; I2C-Bus; UART; SPI, A/D and D/A Converters, FPGA;
  • Practical knowledge in SW versioning tools like CVS, SVN, GIT;
  • Practical knowledge in SW Project Management like Rally;
  • Architecture of the main Power converter such as AC/DC, DC/AC, DC/DC Step-Up/Down;
  • Good understanding of the main operating systems concepts: processes, memory management, file systems, task manager;
  • Language: Fluent English.
