Reporting Lines

The Agribusiness Finance Officer reports directly to the Deputy Director (Business Development) at CFI. The role involves close collaboration with other team members of the Centre.

Technical Focus
Offering analytical and technical support on agribusiness finance within both public and private investment spheres. This encompasses a specialized focus on financial institutions, rural finance, agricultural risk management, blended finance, and private sector investment.

Key Results
Delivering impactful investment and finance solutions through the provision of technical expertise and support for capacity development. This collaboration with country stakeholders and partners aims to drive significant transformation in agrifood systems aligned with the FAO Strategic Framework.

Key Functions

  • Participating in and eventually leading multidisciplinary teams to assist governments in identifying and preparing investment and finance support initiatives in areas such as food security, agriculture, rural development, and natural resource management.
  • Supporting the formulation of national sector investment plans and promoting inclusive and sustainable food systems.
  • Delivering capacity development initiatives in food and agriculture, rural development, and other related areas.
  • Leading the establishment of relationships with relevant Strategic Programmes and FAO technical units to enhance collaboration.
  • Participating in resource mobilization activities and providing guidance to junior staff.

Specific Functions

  • Assessing investment operations for agricultural funds co-financed by the European Union.
  • Contributing to knowledge products on investment in food and agriculture, blended funds, and access to finance for farmers and agri-SMEs.
  • Engaging with the European Union and impact funds to develop new investment tools for the agricultural sector.

Minimum Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in a relevant field.
  • Seven years of experience in agribusiness finance and investments in developing countries.
  • Proficiency in English and intermediate knowledge of another official FAO language.
