YOUR TEAM
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where computational scientists, physicists, biologists and mechanical and electrical engineer collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The research focuses on generating yeast-based biosensors expressing olfactory receptors of the nematode _Caenorhabditis elegans_.
This includes the optimization of the read-out signal of the modified yeast strains in response to specific external stimuli; high-throughput screening on libraries of VOCs (volatile organic compounds); de-orphanization of the nematode receptors and the calibration of the biosensors using dose-response curves.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Lab procedures including molecular cloning, PCR, Quantitative RT-PCR, western blot, RNA and DNA extraction, immunocytochemistry, confocal microscopy.
- Cell biology procedures including yeast cells growth and management, cell transformation.
- Work with transgenic nematodes (behavioral assays).
- Protocols optimization and development of novel protocols tailored to the project procedures.
- Research support for image analysis (Image J), data collection and analysis (GraphPad Prism software).
- Preparation of reports and dossiers.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics or related fields.
- Strong publication record.
- Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data.
- Documented experience in coaching junior scientists.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Experience in different working environment (university laboratories/hospitals/companies, both national and international).
- Experience in flow cytometry and cell sorting.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong problemsolving attitude.
- High motivation to learn.
- Spirit of innovation and creativity.
- Good at time and priority management.
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
