This position will be responsible for overseeing fundamental tasks related to Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations (PSIs), Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), detailed site investigation (DSI), and remediation.

You will also provide professional support and advice to spill responses and chance-find contamination at construction sites.

Primary Location(s):May work out of one of the offices in Fort St. John, Cranbrook, Prince George, or Williams Lake.

Travel:
Some field work and travel is expected.

Compensation:
Compensation varies by position, typically $37 - $45 / hr plus overtime, travel, professional dues, benefits, and year-end bonus. Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience and skills, and professional standing.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, professional guidance and advice, and project management for a broad range of contaminated site projects in a variety of natural resource sectors.
  • Supervise environmental drilling, remedial excavation, test pitting, and associated soil sample collection.
  • Supervise groundwater monitoring well installation.
  • Conduct groundwater monitoring and sampling
  • Conduct soil vapour sampling.
  • Conduct stockpile characterization.
  • Prepare report for the field activities, including Stage 1&2 PSIs/Phase 1&2 ESAs, DSIs, Remediation.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior team members.
  • Leadership in preparation of Quotations, Proposals, etc.

Your education, training, and memberships:

  • Current or eligibility within 1 year for a relevant professional designation (e.g., PGeo, PEng, PAg, etc.).
  • Currently are, or working towards eligibility for CSAP.

Your skills and experience:

  • 7+ years of experience, including at least three years of field experience in supervising environmental drilling, groundwater sampling, and soil vapour sampling.
  • Familiarity with a riskbased approach is an asset.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations in BC including EMA and associated Regulations (e.g., CSR, HWR), Protocols, Technical Guidance, and BCWQGs.
  • Knowledge of federal environmental legislation (e.g., CCME CEQGs)
  • Effective relationship, communication, and networking skills to cultivate relationships with clients, regulators, First Nations, community members, and team members.
  • Project management and organizational skills to coordinate and support team members and manage client portfolios.
  • Review and preparation of professional reports, work plans, and project proposals and quotes.
  • Familiarity with the following is considered an asset:
  • Various Natural Resource sectors, especially Oil and Gas sector.
  • Environmental surveys (fish/wildlife/avian/wetland/vegetation/soils).
  • Reclamation.
  • Erosion and sediment control plans and implementation.
  • Mining exploration and mining operations.
  • Desirable traits:
  • Interest in presenting at seminars or conferences and networking with other professionals and prospective clients.
  • A focus on results to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Ability to adapt to changes throughout project lifecycles.
  • Ability to work extended or flexible hours to match client requests.
