RECEIVING AND INSPECTION ASSISTANT, GS-4 The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.

This position is located within the Warehouse and Distribution Team (W&D), Delivery & Return Section of the Supply Chain Service at the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy.

The R&I Assistant is under the general supervision of the Chief, Warehouse and Distribution Team (W&D), Delivery & Return Section, Supply Chain Service.

ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the R&I Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

• Assists in receiving all deliveries of Mission supplies.
• Assists in conducting physical inspections and quality control of mission United Nations Property to ensure that all items are accounted for and in serviceable condition.
• Assists in identifying anomalies and/or discrepancies and the details thereof, or any other reason for rejection and record in Damage Discrepancy reports (DDR), posted on the system and presented to R&I supervisor and Procurement for immediate action.
• Processes Goods' Receipt reports in UMOJA and Receiving and Inspection (R&I) reports in the electronic inventory management system.
• Maintains on a daily basis accurate and auditable property records in the electronic inventory management system for property control and accountability in conformance with administrative instructions, guidelines, manuals and SOPs.
• Updates all physical verification records and data entry in the electronic inventory management system.
• Assists stakeholders with the application of property management policies and procedures to meet organizational standards and goals set up in the DOS Directives, LD Guidelines and mission's SOPs.
• Assists in monitoring the execution of contracts for the disposal of property and supplies, including all types of waste material.
• Assists the Supervisor in coordinating with SAUs in preparation of equipment write-offs and processing of write-off cases through relevant property survey boards.
• Prepares statistical analysis and trend analysis on United Nations property.
• Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
• Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
• Performs Property Disposal Cell housekeeping on a continuous basis.
• Operates MHE (i.e. manual and powered) to move bulk items, pallets and containers.
• Supports manual loading/unloading and movements of written-off UNOE.
• Performs any other duty assigned by the Chief, Warehouse & Distribution

EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific QualificationDriving license type "B" is required. Driving license type C is desirable. Forklift operator certificate (minimum 3 Tons) is required. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

Work ExperienceA minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of inventory control, property management, logistics, warehousing, procurement, or other related fields is required.

The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) year for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.

Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. Experience with Microsoft package is desirable.

Experience with ISO Container yard management is desirable (loading/unloading, marking/labelling, inventory tracking, etc).LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

For the post advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
