Reporting Lines
The Gender Specialist position, reporting ultimately to the FAO Representative in Sudan, closely supervised by the Assistant FAOR for program, and provided technical guidance by the Gender Focal Points in HQ in Rome and the Regional Office in Cairo, focuses on promoting women's rights and empowerment. The role entails:
Tasks and Responsibilities
Acting as the gender focal point for FAO Sudan, the Gender Specialist will:
• Ensure gender aspects are integrated into the design and execution of FAO Sudan programs and projects.
• Conduct gender-based analyses and contribute to other necessary technical assessments for project development and implementation.
• Collaborate with FAO HQ and Regional Office Gender focal points to incorporate gender standard documents into FAO Sudan initiatives.
• Conduct training sessions to enhance capacities on Gender Equality Analysis among FAO Sudan and government partners.
• Lead awareness programs on gender equality and women's empowerment for targeted groups.
• Identify key stakeholders promoting women's rights and gender equality across various sectors.
• Integrate gender-based analysis findings into FAO country projects.
• Provide inputs on gender issues for FAO country project reports.
• Collaborate on defining and analyzing sex-age disaggregated data with Monitoring and Evaluation experts.
• Undertake other relevant duties as required.
Candidates will be Assessed Against the Following
Minimum Requirements
• Minimum M.SC. Degree in sociology or related social sciences.
• At least 5 years of work experience.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic.
• National of Sudan.
