Position: AFTER SALES ENGINEER

Location: Rome

Purpose of the Job

The main purpose of the role is to provide technical support to maintenance activities (on site or by remote) on Railway Signalling Systems operated by the Alstom domestic and international Customers. The role includes the responsibility to manage warranty obligations on the projects in the scope of Alstom.

Position in the Organisation

The position will be part of the Services Signalling Platform Organisation - Maintenance Team. The employee will have a hierarchical and functional report to the Signalling Maintenance Manager. Internal relationships include:

  1. System and Product
  2. Application Engineering
  3. Industrialization
  4. Supply Chain departments
  5. Installation

External relationships include Customer infrastructures operators and maintenance technicians.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The person will be responsible for:

  1. Definition and implementation of Maintenance and technical assistance plans
  2. Coordination and support to maintenance technicians on field
  3. Provision of performances and log analysis
  4. Provision of structured “return of experience” process by: reporting, statistics, etc.
  5. Execution and supervision of HW and SW retrofit and upgrade plans
  6. Provision of support to Service Signalling Platform organization in the definition of maintenance strategy in tenders and offers
  7. Cooperation with product engineering in the definition of maintainability requirements during the product’s design phase

The position also includes the availability to perform activities outside of the Bologna Alstom site (25%) and to be part of the team that supports the customer maintenance team by remote H24.

Educational and Technical Requirements
  1. Bachelor/Master degree in Electronics/Electric/Telecommunications Engineering
  2. Capability to interpret electric drawings and schemes
  3. Knowledge of electronic design principles and methodology
  4. Knowledge of the most common operating systems (Unix, Ms-Windows, …)
  5. Knowledge of the most common net protocols (TCP/IP, …)
  6. Knowledge of RAM analysis methodology
  7. Capability to use test tools (oscilloscope, wave generator, multimeter, etc…)
  8. Basic knowledge of railway systems and/or transportation systems would be a plus
Languages
  1. Italian: excellent level written and spoken
  2. English: good level written and spoken
  3. Knowledge of French is desirable but not mandatory
Competencies and Experience Requested
  1. Capability of synthesis and related written exposure
  2. Capability to perform analysis and to relate information from different contexts
  3. Capability to work in a team and attitude to problem solving
  4. New graduate or one/two years of experience in electronic or electromechanical company
  5. Hardware and firmware design
  6. Knowledge of on-site or remote technical assistance for Electronic/Electromechanical applications
