The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Operations Directorate (OPS) - Public Sector Department (PS) - Adriatic Sea & Regulated Operations - Italy, Malta Division (4-MA (IT,MT)), at its EIB office in Rome, Italy: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2025)

Objective of the traineeship

You will support the origination and execution of lending and financial instrument activities in Public Sector, Energy and Infrastructure financing in Italy and Malta.

The Division provides funding to projects in Italy and Malta that support EU objectives. These priorities aim to accelerate the green transition, boost technological innovation, bolster security and defence, support regional cohesion and social infrastructure development. In particular, your work will focus on operations in sectors such as water, energy, public transport, higher education and social housing.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Division and senior colleagues, you will actively participate in the Division’s core activities. Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide support in financial and risk analysis of borrowers;
  • Prepare and update marketing material used with clients and at public events;
  • Research topics of interest for the Division's activities and enhance existing datasets on clients / sectors;
  • Provide support in blending operations.
Academic qualifications and professional skills
  • Final year of studies or University degree in Business Administration or Finance
  • A first experience in the field of financial analysis will be considered as an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of Italian would be an advantage.
