Job DescriptionAre you a jack of all trades? If so, our Shift Engineer role will allow you to lead and train engineering and landscape team members in all technical and non-technical areas. This individual will be comfortable leading various projects from start to finish as well as focused on maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- To respond to all guest repair and departmental repair requests promptly.
- To look after designated plant rooms, report defects and keep clean.
- To be the first point of contact for other departments' job requests.
- To regularly check stock and to report to supervisors what needs ordering.
- Communicate rooms and areas needing repair and timelines on how long the work will take.
- To meet all service standards in every guest interaction.
- To keep all equipment and tools provided by the hotel in good repair.
- To work well alongside other departments and colleagues within the department to ensure smooth running of the hotel.
- Communicate any delays due to unforeseen problems in a timely manner so expectations can be managed.
- To keep work areas clean and tidy at all times and use signage provided by the hotel.
- Coverage of night shifts.
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience as an Engineer / Maintenance Technician, preferably within a hotel or property management environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Technical school desired.
- Ability to take action and make decisions whenever necessary as directed by the Director of Engineering or Engineering Supervisor.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions on assembly of mechanical equipment and furniture as well as follow directions on warning labels.
