Applied Materials is an American multinational company with more than 34,000 employees based in Santa Clara, Silicon Valley, California.

It is the world's leading company in the development of innovative industrial machinery, services and software used in the production of semiconductors such as microchips, flat displays, and solar cells for photovoltaics.

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer who will support our customer and our team in Catania (Italy), guaranteeing the best performance of Applied Materials' Equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Implement and guarantee all levels of preventative and corrective maintenance on the hardware part of the machinery.
  2. Installation and calibration of the robots.
  3. Management of equipment performance and supply of spare parts.
  4. Support troubleshooting activities and fix technical issues on the automation part of the equipment.
  5. Diagnose and resolve hardware issues through understanding of software and process data as needed.
  6. Perform upgrades and retrofits on equipment.
  7. Understand and implement correct work methodologies and procedures as per company and customer quality standards.
  8. Anticipate and respond to equipment issues and escalations in a timely manner.
  9. Collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  10. Participate in internal and customer meetings.
  11. Within assigned scope, assist management in operation of site service business.
  12. Assist Applied Materials field management in establishing and achieving objectives for assigned account.
  13. Keep field management informed on customer perception of system performance.
  14. Take initiative to avoid and resolve customer problems.
  15. May occasionally initiate projects to drive down costs or increase uptime.
  16. May work in shifts depending on assignment.
  17. Travel flexibility is required; we estimate 20% per year maximum.

Hardware & Soft Skills:

  1. Ability in programming robots and automatic machinery.
  2. Knowledge in Linux and Windows Networking.
  3. Knowledge in IoT, e.g., Raspberry, Arduino, or ESP32 environment.
  4. Additional capabilities welcomed: advanced software skills, industrial automation, problem solving through software analysis, software coding, server administration, computer analyst.

Soft Skills:

  1. Ability to interact in a professional manner with colleagues and customers.
  2. Communicates and presents effectively technical content in a clear manner during customer meetings.
  3. Oriented to team leading and service to customers.
  4. Objective and data-driven approach.
  5. Plan and organize work tasks properly and by priorities.
  6. Ability to communicate in a global organization.
  7. Explains technical information within the team and with supporting AMAT network of experts.

Education: Bachelor's Degree
