1. Assists in the development and assessment of the clinical education component of the curriculum.
2. Responsible for the administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program.
3. Monitors and refines the clinical education component of the curriculum.
4. Facilitates quality learning experiences for students during clinical education.
5. Coordinates and implements the clinical education component of the curriculum including site placements, site visits, and evaluations.
6. Selects clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of an ethical and professional facility that incorporates the program’s core values.
7. Serves as a liaison between the students and clinical facility.
8. Responsible for facilitating students’ clinical education.
9. Provides and performs adequate orientation to the operating rooms and equipment for all students.
10. Provides guidance and support as required to problem solve and discuss students' concerns.
11. Meets with students prior to clinical affiliations to disseminate information on clinical policies and procedures, clinical site information, clinical education philosophy, and objectives.
12. Prepares student clinical assignment schedules, placing students in surgical areas appropriate to their needs on a daily basis, including holiday, on-call, and weekend shifts.
13. Assesses students’ performance during clinical education.
14. Ensures clinical education program compliance.
15. Complies with site requirements.
16. Completes the student clinical summative rotation evaluation form at the completion of each student’s rotation.
17. Assures daily student evaluations are being performed by all preceptors (using the Medatrax system).
