Application Technologist

As an application technologist, your role is to support and fuel the profitable growth of the IFF business in the Dairy/Beverage category by taking ownership of projects that demonstrate our flavours and the rest of the portfolio in high-quality commercially scalable applications. To do so, familiarity with a wide IFF portfolio of ingredients is essential.

The role is also to support the commercial team by identifying customer needs and opportunities, establishing/building technical relationships with customers.

1. Proven application and project planning ability.
2. Extended knowledge of ingredients, customer bases, processes, and flavor interactions.
3. Participates in big strategic and global account projects.
4. Refined problem-solving ability with confidence to liaise directly with customers.

• Independently selects and recommends appropriate solutions in compliance with client profile, legal, cost, and stability requirements.
• Reviews, renews, and renovates Flavor and Ingredient portfolios in line with established metrics.
• Establishes attribute language (Taste and Texture) knowledge and articulates with team and project members.
• Develops and improves finished product formulations using knowledge of industrial standards, country-specific and client requirements.
• Maintains and continuously renovates specific recipe database.
• Establishes knowledge of recipe ingredients, raw materials, and their functions, and fully understands the finished product production process.
• Proven time and project management skills.
• Partners with Production and Quality department to complete scale-up trials and support QA/QC with troubleshooting when necessary.
• Develops technical network within IFF to collaborate and expand knowledge of portfolio and solutions to finished products.

• Demonstrates excellent taste and texture, discrimination, and articulation for ingredients, flavors, and design of solutions.
• Participates in Category initiatives and/or new concept generation.
• Develops applications to maximize performance and incorporates appropriate technology.
• Proficient in IFF software, databases, and processes.
• Establishes creativity, innovation, and presentation skills.
• Confident in knowledge of IFF Innovation Programs for aligned categories.

• Establishes and maintains customer relationships and brand understanding.
• Builds clear knowledge of customer and competitive brands.
• Visits clients and presents technical information and taste and texture design concepts.
• Works in close collaboration with Sales/Marketing, Flavorists, Product Experience, GRA, and other departments to support project execution.
• Provides solutions utilizing creative problem-solving skills.
• Develops strong relationships with aligned customers and related categories.
• Supports and implements the business strategy in assigned projects.

• Shows positive attitude and passion.
• Shares knowledge with the team and provides guidance to Trainee/Associate Designer.
• Engages management to obtain appropriate resources or expertise.
• Inspires and builds confidence in others to achieve targets.
• Partners with Senior Designer on regional/global briefs.
