The Role

Are you ready to lead complex electrical system projects across Europe? As a Lead Field Services Engineer on Electrical Excitation & LCI systems, you are the technical authority for our Gas Power Software Control Solutions team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end commissioning, maintenance, and optimization of critical Excitation and Load Commutated Inverter (LCI) systems. In this role, you bridge the gap between advanced digital control technology and physical power generation equipment, ensuring our customers’ assets operate safely, reliably, and at peak performance.

Job Description

What You’ll Accomplish

• 
  
• Drive Technical Excellence: You will lead onsite electrical activities, overseeing the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of both legacy systems and our latest excitation and LCI technology.
  
• Solve Critical Challenges: Using your deep analytical skills, you will diagnose complex technical issues, perform software modifications, and adjust control constants to optimize system performance for gas and steam turbines.
  
• Lead Onsite Operations: You will act as the primary technical point of contact for plant owners and utility operators, coordinating cross‑functional teams, managing resources, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within quality standards.
  
• Mentor & Consult: You will provide expert advisory services on our packaged products, support business development initiatives, and mentor team members to build collective field capability.
  
• Champion Safety: You will foster a "Safety‑First" culture, ensuring all site activities strictly adhere to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
  

What You’ll Bring

• 
  
• Technical Foundation: Substantive experience in power plant maintenance or turbine generator commissioning, with a strong understanding of industrial control systems and power electronics.
  
• System Mastery: You possess a working knowledge of electrical control systems—familiarity with GE Excitation and starter systems (such as EX2100e or LS2100e) is highly valued.
  
• Operational Readiness: You are comfortable reading and interpreting complex control documentation, P&IDs, and PLC logic to troubleshoot critical system issues.
  
• Communication & Influence: You are able to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, from onsite technicians to senior management.
  
• Flexibility & Mobility: You thrive in dynamic environments and are willing to travel extensively (~70%) to support diverse project sites, including international or offshore environments.
  
• Fluency: You are proficient in English; proficiency in Italian, Spanish, or French is highly valued to support our regional customer base effectively.
