Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our research team. This role involves performing RNA and DNA extractions and conducting quality control for longread sequencing. The ideal candidate will have experience with Nanopore sequencing and be proficient in various laboratory techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Laboratory Techniques: Plan execute and arrange laboratory experiments develop new techniques and procedures and perform routine experiments including tissue culture cell separation and both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Sample Management: Operate and maintain instrumentation for longread sequencing of DNA and RNA samples store new samples update databases and retrieve samples with proper authorization.
• Data Analysis & Documentation: Analyze document and report on all procedures performed. Interpret results draw conclusions and provide summaries and detailed reports for senior staff and team members.
• Inventory & Maintenance: Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies initiate purchase orders and perform routine equipment maintenance. Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating laboratory instruments.
• Training & Development: Train new laboratory members in the correct use of equipment application of techniques and laboratory protocols. Provide support in establishing and optimizing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols for processing longread data.
• Innovation & Optimization: Assist in establishing and optimizing DNA and RNA isolation protocols for cell blood and tissue samples. Identify pitfalls and recommend new strategies to achieve improved results.
