The focus will be on underwriting complex risks and engage in market activities (brokers and customers) to continue establish the BHSI footprint in Italy.We are seeking an experienced individual who is engaged, passionate, social and always striving towards excellence, in both underwriting and collaboration. You should be comfortable working closely with actuaries, the Claims team, risk engineers and underwriters from across the broader team both locally and globally. In addition, necessary character, relationship building and negotiating skills to help lead and further build a profitable book of business are of the upmost importance.The successful candidate will be focused on a positive customer experience, while maintaining sound underwriting discipline. This position is a great fit for an experienced Senior Property Underwriter looking to expand their responsibilities and underwriting knowledge with an experienced unit within a top global insurance company that is in the early days of its regional establishment.Duties & Responsibilities:Support the development and build-out of Property in Italy that is consistent with the team’s focus on profitable growth.Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships.Underwrite accounts while ensuring appropriate analysis and documentation without sacrificing discipline, diligence, and quality service.Underwrite complex and challenging risks while developing creative solutions for our brokers and customers.Support and contribute to the successful launch of BHSI Italy.Effectively communicate BHSI value proposition.Be a positive reflection on the company by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace.Qualifications, Skills and Experience:5+ years of Underwriting experience, preferably having worked for an international insurer with good use of English in both written and spoken form in addition to Italian.Existing broker and customer relationships, or the experience and ability to develop strong broker and customer relationships quickly.Strong underwriting acumen, including understanding deployment of net capacity, NAT CAT and profitability over top line growth.Experience and strong understanding of different type policy forms, including broker manuscripts, as well as National and Multinational programs.Strong collaboration and team building skills.Strong communication skills including negotiation and presentation experience.Customer meeting experience with an ability to obtain valuable insights into company exposures via dialogue with senior executives.Willingness to travel.BHSI Offers:A competitive package and exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates.A dynamic, action oriented, and thoughtful environment centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates and our other stakeholders.A purposely non-bureaucratic organization that embraces simplicity over complexity and emphasizes individual excellence in a team framework.The opportunity to help shape the Property portfolio in Italy.For questions about this opportunity please contact Thomas Tasso on thomas.tasso@bhspecialty.com.To apply, please submit your CV with a cover letter outlining why this would be the perfect role for you to hr.europe@bhspecialty.comNOTE: Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
