Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.Manage project schedules to ensure all the projects are properly processed, including quotation, execution, reporting and invoicing.Independently determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction.Subcontractor inquiry, materials/equipment/personnel planning to meet job and project requirements.Perform sample testing and measurements at UL’s laboratories.Projects may include frequent travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites. Initiate communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services.Communicate with clients and laboratories to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements.Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.Perform data analysis on the obtained testing data. Prepare technical reports and present their results to customers.Maintain daily work records with accuracy and integrity. Serve as Project Handler of record and sign as Reviewer of record as assigned.Develop UL requirements for testing products beyond the scope of existing standards, or those involving unique features requiring frequent use of independent judgment. Develop special test methods and test equipment.Coordinate and/or perform File Reviews.May represent UL on technical committees and/or industry-related functions such as seminars and trade shows.Train and guide the other engineers to build competency in MV/HV cable qualification, quality assurance, and other lab testing programs.Performs other duties as directed.Willing to travel over 25% to customer’s facilities and job site, including global travels.QualificationsUniversity Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program.5+ years of experience working with/for MV/HV or high-power laboratories, MV/HV cable manufacturers, power utilities involving MV/HV cable systems, or relevant fields.Strong knowledge and experience in related industrial and international standards for MV/HV cable systems, including but not limited to ICEA/AEIC, IEEE, IEC, and CIGRE standards.Knowledge in high voltage testing technologies on power cables including high voltage withstand test, impulse test, load cycle test, dielectric loss test, partial discharge measurement, etc.Familiarity with high voltage safety requirements in laboratories and manufacturer plants. Commitment to safe operations and zero incident workplace.Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts in use in areas of expertise, including application to complex, new, or unusual products.Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with all internal and external customers and make formal presentations to people at all levels, both within and outside the company.Knowledge of basic computer software in the MS Office suite.Able to handle multiple assignments concurrently without direct supervision.Valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record with a willingness to accept extended travel assignments.About UsA global leader in applied safety science, UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS) transforms safety, security and sustainability challenges into opportunities for customers in more than 110 countries.
