Senior Mechanical EngineerLocation: Rho, Italy (near the metro station)Contract Type: Full-time, On-siteWorking Hours: 09:00–12:45, 14:00–18:00Compensation: Commensurate with experienceRole DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in the mechanical design and development of battery stacks and containerized systems. This position is intended for an experienced professional who will act as a technical reference for mechanical architecture, integration, and robustness of stack modules and container-level systems.The role sits at a key interface between detailed component development and overall system design. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with a mechanical development engineer, the Head of Product (focused on system-level container design), and the hydraulic engineer, ensuring coherent integration of mechanical structures, piping interfaces, thermal and hydraulic constraints, and manufacturability considerations.The position combines hands-on mechanical design, engineering judgment, and cross-functional coordination, supporting the transition from laboratory and pilot-scale systems to industrialized containerized solutions.ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical design and development of battery stacks, stack frames, manifolds, and structural componentsDefine and oversee the mechanical architecture of stack modules within containerized systemsCollaborate closely with the hydraulic engineer to ensure proper integration of piping, flow paths, sealing concepts, and pressure constraintsInterface with the Head of Product on container-level system design, layout, integration, and scalabilitySupervise and technically guide the work of a mechanical development engineerPerform mechanical analyses related to structural integrity, tolerances, thermal expansion, vibration, and assemblySupport design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and serviceability considerationsContribute to the definition of mechanical standards, design guidelines, and best practicesSupport prototype build, testing, and troubleshooting activities, including root-cause analysis of mechanical issuesPrepare technical documentation, CAD data packages, and internal design reportsContribute to technology roadmap and product development decisions from a mechanical engineering perspectiveQualificationsMSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering6+ years of experience in mechanical design and development of complex engineered systems (liquid pressurized systems, or similar)Strong experience in mechanical design of assemblies, structures, and interfaces (preferably in fluid-based systems)Proficiency with CAD tools and mechanical design methodologiesExperience working in multidisciplinary R&D teamsStrong problem-solving skills and engineering judgmentAbility to balance hands-on design work with system-level thinkingExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English
